The Proposal

At the AVSA National Convention in Tulsa this year, the AVSA board needed the names of the MAAVS Committee Chairman before they could accept our hosting bid.
Tom Glembocki agreed to be Conventin Chair but we needed a Show Chair. With Tom Glembocki, Libbie Glembocki and Faye Wagman as witnesses, Rich Follett got down on bended knee and asked Brenda Petry if she would please accept the position of Show Chair. The photo captures this historic moment.

Site Visit

AVSA Convention Director Linda Owens and Kathy Lahti visited Raleigh, NC in the summer of 2008.  Tom and Libbie Glembocki joined Linda and Kathy on a whirlwind tour of the city and potential convention sites. The winning bid was from the Hilton Hotel on Wake Forest Road in Raleigh. With 1,000 free parking spaces,  30,000 square feet of meeting and banquet rooms and a recently completed renovation it was easy to see the Hilton advantage for AVSA convention attendees.
